Starting a New Business: Actualizing Your Vision

So you had that fantastic business idea, the one that's going to be wildly successful and make you a fortune – and even better, you actually did something about it and started your own business. Good for you! Not everyone gets even that far. Most people sit and day dream about what they might do if only ….

But you got over the biggest hurdle, you took that first step and you actually created something. 

Well done – you already did more than most. But once you've got started and you've maybe lost that first flush of enthusiasm with the day to day details of running your business how do you keep going? 

There are several things to look at here: 

1. What are you really good at and what do you enjoy doing? Make two lists – one of all the jobs you like and/or are good at, and one of all the jobs you hate and/or really don't do very well. Take the second list and have a look at what you might outsource or automate. Do you really love doing those accounts or would your time be better spent in forward planning while your accountant does the sums? Must you personally reply to every last enquiry or could you create a FAQ which you can post on your website and refer people to by autoresponder? Obviously in the early stages of your business you might find you don't have the money to pay someone to do the jobs you hate but you've got to think about what is best for you and your business long term. Be creative – could you swap skills to get the help you need? The more routine jobs you can outsource or automate the more time you have to plan and to market your business, and to think about even more ways to bring in all that lovely cash – not to mention you get to spend more of your time doing the things you really enjoy doing. 

2. Why are you doing this? You really need to be motivated to start a business and keep it going and the best way to do this is to know what all that effort is for. What really moves you to get up in the morning and do what you need to do even when you don't really feel like it? Write your reasons down and stick them on your wall. Even better find pictures of that house in the country, the Lamborghini or that ‘must have' holiday and put them where you can see them every day. 

3. How do you deal with those inevitable bumps in the road? Not everything you do will be perfect – sometimes things you've tried will be a total disaster – but it's the way you react to problems that matters. If you curl up in a ball and give up at the first sign of failure you'd better not be in business. “Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” – John Quincy Adams. It's all about attitude. 

4. Have a plan and stick to it as far as possible but always be prepared to be flexible and open minded. Sometimes the most unexpected opportunities come up and you need to be ready to seize them with both hands – as Joe Vitale says ‘Money likes speed'. 

5. Get yourself a mentor – learn from someone who has done it before. Having someone to bounce ideas off and someone who can encourage you when things get tough is invaluable. 

And most importantly, never let anyone put you down and never be afraid of failure:

How To Protect Your Affiliate Commission

Affiliate marketers have a constant worry about commissions being stolen by some lazy person out there who doesn't want to work. In some marketing circles, it is a widely held belief that this is an easy task that just takes a few keystrokes to accomplish. 

Let's examine the fallacy in that assumption. It is very easy for someone to change the hop=your ID to hop=their ID. There is no arguing with that. After having clicked the Order Now button, the prospective purchaser will be taken to the checkout page. At the very bottom of the page, under the Terms of Sale and under the Click Bank copyright, the original affiliate ID is still displayed. This doesn't change just because the hop link has been changed. The appearance of this ID can't be changed. That means that the commission for the original and rightful marketer is securely protected. 

The hop=value does not set the affiliate cookie. This necessary cookie is set when the link is clicked. That means that the hop=value can be changed and it will have no effect on the cookie. 

Since the commissions are protected from this type of theft, are there other ways that the affiliate commissions can be stolen? There are two major areas of concern and, even though there is a real possibility of loss, there really is not much that can be done to stop them. 

If the affiliate link is on the sales page, the unethical customer can see the Affiliates link and obtain their own link and buy through that link. Yes, it is considered bad form to buy from your own link; however, there is very little that can be done to stop it. Multiple PayPal accounts and email accounts guarantee the theft's anonymity. 

Malware or Adware is capable of replacing genuine affiliate cookies. By substituting their own data, the legitimate affiliate marketer once again misses out on the sale. 

Why do people continue to cloak their links. The simple answer is to make them look more professional. That is quite an acceptable reason. All marketers want their business to be perceived as first class and professional. The small things go a long way to reinforce this perception. Appearances are considered to be an area of importance. 

But there is no reason to spend huge amounts of money on software to do this cloaking. You can easily do the same thing with a redirect page. Or check out free affiliate link cloaking software programs on Google.

Problem #1: Most new opportunities are totally unproven. The fact is many of the opportunities are too new! The market for the products and services is not well-established yet. Usually, the only people who get rich with these opportunities are wealthy Fortune 500 companies that have tons of money to spend anyway. Opportunities that are too new are too risky! It is important to let others who can afford it pave the way.

Problem #2: Most of the money-making methods are the same old boring plans and programs. Many opportunities claim to be new and innovative, but really are not. Some look new, but in reality are only a facade! With a little research, you will see that there is nothing “new” at all about them. What is important is to get involved in an opportunity that is new, different and better than others, is rock solid, and is part of an explosive combination of the three hottest emerging multi-billion dollar trends.

Problem #3: Many home-based business opportunities only make the promoters rich. Average people who are involved in these plans almost never make any money. Only those considered the “heavy hitters” make the real money; they are the ones who have all the connections.

Problem #4: Many of the hottest and exciting money making opportunities are immoral and illegal. This is something that has to be avoided at all costs! Never, ever, get involved with any opportunity that looks and sounds good, but due diligence shows to violate ethics and laws. Who wants to go to jail? Always ask what is the product or service behind the opportunity, where is the market for this product or service that is supposed to take the world by storm, and would it be possible to make lots of money without all the hype and buzz?

Problem #5: Many opportunities are not long lasting. In other words, they are here today and gone tomorrow! They are pure hype with no type of firm foundation behind them; there is no “real” product or service. When all the hype runs out, the market is gone for good! Never become involved in a home-based business opportunity based on pure hype.

So, there you have it: the top five reasons why some home-based businesses will fail. Carefully look for potential problems with any business opportunity; avoid them, and you will be well on your way in finding a true legitimate business right from the start!
